Pagination: links that work without a clicking crawler

When products or articles span pages, each page needs a standard URL and link.

Research context: Google Search Central · Pagination and incremental loading ↗

01 / THE PROBLEM

A crawler does not necessarily click load-more or scroll an infinite list.

02 / WHEN THIS FITS

Server-render complete small lists. Large lists can combine user-initiated loading with stable page URLs.

Try the pattern

Task and expected result

  1. 01

Read library HTML and find article links.

  2. 02

Open a direct article URL without first visiting the hub.

  3. 03

For your pagination, test page two directly and return from an item.

How to investigate value

Check crawling, indexing choices, canonicals and language. Later use Search Console to assess relevant queries and task success after arrival.

Watch for side effects

Duplicates, wrong languages, stale titles, false product schema and traffic to pages that do not solve the query.

This is a proposed investigation, not a measured result. Choose one hypothesis and define the audience before testing.
